The Process

How we work

We follow a simple but effective process which we use no matter your building requirements.

Over the past 20+ years we have been operating, this process has been refined and perfected to make sure the building our work for you is straightforward and clear.

We give you a break down of each stage of our process, allowing you to organise and plan your next step..

Free Initial Consultation

  • A member of our project delivery team will arrange a time to visit you and your property
  • We will discuss your aims and offer advice about the potential of your property
  • During our initial consultations we showcase the materials we use and show you what will make up your build.
  • Before leaving we will take key measurements.
  • Then, we will begin to make your vision come true with a bespoke design package to suit you.

Free Initial Estimate

  • After the visit we will send across a cost-effective and affordable quote.
  • We will clearly breaking down each aspect of the costing.
  • We will run through the quote with you and answer any questions you may have.

Planning Process

  • Our architect will visit and carry out a detailed survey of the property
  • We will then confirm the final details of the project with you
  • After plans are ready they are submitted to the council
  • Once reviewed by the council if any amendments are required they will be made by us
  • The party wall notice process will be started
  • We then wait for the application to be approved
  • Full building regulation drawings are then created based on approved plans
  • This includes steel calculations and timber calculations.

Building Control

  • Building control is then appointed
  • Notice given with the intention to begin works

Pre-Construction

  • Once the planning and building control process is complete and everything is ready to go
  • We will then have a pre-construction meeting with you
  • Here we will break down your bespoke project deadlines and requirements
  • We will then set up channels of communications with your dedicated project manager and site foreman

The work begins

  • Your build team will then carry out agreed scope of work in line with The Ratio’s standards and guidelines
  • We will then schedule regular updates and meetings with project managers, site foreman, your build team and yourself.
  • Building control will then approve stages of work to comply with building regulations.

Work Completed

  • Once work is completed it will be checked against our rigorous quality checklist before confirming with you
  • You will then receive final paperwork (guarantees and certifications)

Aftercare & Follow-up

To keep your peace of mind we offer:

  • 1 year defect guarantee
  • 10 year insurance backed structural and roofing guarantee
